Hercules in Matto Grosso


In collaboration with the Centro de Experimentación del Teatro Colón (CETC), Music of the Americas presents the U.S. premiere of the chamber opera “Hercules in Mato Grosso,” which explores the early nineteenth-century travels of French photographer Hércules Florence through the rainforest of Mato Grosso. A star-studded cast of singers is conducted by Americas Society/Council of the Americas’s own Music Director Sebastian Zubieta, who also led the sold-out world premiere run of this hypnotic work in Buenos Aires last fall.
